INNOVATIVE DRY EYE THERAPY
|
We are proud to introduce intense pulsed light (IPL) and radiofrequency (RF) to our patients.
Using a combination of IPL and RF, we can offer fast and comfortable treatments for moderate to severe dry eye disease (DED). The technology from iProX layers IPL and RF together. IPL targets widened blood vessels (telangiectasia) and skin darkening (hyperpigmentation). RF builds collagen and tightens soft tissue. In tandem, IPL and RF can deliver targeted treatment with no "snap" or pinch. What makes this even more exciting is that this technology can be used in multiple applications in the eye area. The treatment schedule involves four sessions, each spaced two weeks apart. Each session is conveniently only fifteen minutes in duration. There is no "downtime" or recovery required. |
Why is it important to treat dry eye disease?
So many people, especially where we live in Southern California, suffer from dry eyes. When your tears don’t lubricate your eyes well enough, it's not insignificant. Your visual clarity can be affected, and you can feel persistent discomfort. Many patient complaints range from a gritty sensation to endless eye watering. Other long-lasting symptoms include mucous discharge and sensitivity to light. Your eyes are left looking red, puffy, and tired.
Having dry eyes, you may become less tolerant to wearing contact lenses. You may be more sensitive to certain cosmetics or eyelash extensions.
Dry eye syndrome sometimes signals an underlying health problem. If left untreated over the long term, it may lead to complications like infection, inflammation, and scarred corneas.
Commonly, dry eye therapy will begin with a regimen of artificial tear lubrication drops and warm compresses to the eye. From there, it can escalate to prescription eye drops and punctal occlusion. For some patients, this is adequate. For others, we continue to seek answers.
